Section R11-1-1850. Examinations for dangerous conditions

Examinations for dangerous conditions, including tests for flamma- ble gas with a device approved by the Inspector should be made at least once each week, and at intervals of not more than seven days, by the mine foreman or other designated mine official, except dur-
ing weeks in which the mine is idle for the entire week. The fore- man or other designated mine official should:
1. Examine and make tests:
a. In the return of each split where it enters the main return,
b. On accessible pillar falls,
c. At seals,
d. In the main return,
e. In at least one entry of each intake and return airway in its entirety,
f. In idle workings,
g. In abandoned workings, insofar as conditions per- mit.
2. Mark his initials and the date at the place examined.
3. Report dangerous conditions, promptly to the mine oper- ator or other designated person.
4. Record the results of his examination with ink or indeli- ble pencil in a book kept for that purpose at a designated place on the surface of the mine.
