Section R11-1-1131. Mine hoist drives

All mine hoists shall consist of one of the following drives:

1.        V-belt driven   and not less   than four   V-belts with   a designed safety factor of 10.

2.        Gear driven. Fiber gears shall not be used.

3.        Friction driven.

4.        Direct drive.

There shall be no chain-driven hoists used for underground opera- tions. All hoists other than automatic hoists must have hand-oper- ated brakes and the brakes must be on the drum.
