A candidate may be required to furnish, at the candidate’s own expense, evidence of education or other qualification. The appoint- ing authority is responsible for verifying education, work experi- ence, applicable license or licenses and references provided by candidates on the application form and in interviews. An appointing authority shall not conduct a criminal background check or a credit check on a candidate unless the agency has statutory or executive order authority to conduct such a check.
